About our ProgramPeninsula Crime Stoppers, Inc. has been active on the Peninsula for 25 years, and during that time has been instrumental in solving over 250 crimes ranging from murder and theft, to narcotics. We are heartened by our success, but we are a nonprofit organization that must depend on the generosity of sponsors in order to support our needs, and because of the unpredictable nature of the tips and rewards, those needs can vary widely from year to year. Mission StatementCrime Stoppers is comprised of diverse, active and dedicated community representatives. Crime Stoppers provides a method for local law enforcement to receive information on crimes. These efforts increase tips, which in turn increase arrests in our community. Who is Involved
Volunteer!!! Although Peninsula Crime Stoppers serves the entire Kenai Peninsula and has been in existence for 25 years, many people are not aware of us, or don't know what we do. In essence, our purpose is to serve the 4 police departments (Homer, Seward, Soldotna, and Kenai) the AK State Troopers, and other law enforcement agencies on the peninsula by providing an infrastructure by which people can provide anonymous tips to police to help solve crimes. We also provide rewards when that information is instrumental to solving a crime.
By design, Crime Stoppers is an entity which forges a partnership between Citizens, the Press, and Police in an effort to solve crime in our communities. We are a nonprofit citizen-based organization run by a volunteer Board of Directors, and we have liaison officers from each of our Peninsula Police Departments working with us.
Our board meets at the Soldotna Police Department at noon on the second Tuesday of each month. We always welcome applications from people interested in serving on our board, and for those who want to volunteer in a lesser way, our by-laws have a provision for citizen advisory committees which could work within their own communities to raise funds for rewards or in other ways to support the Crime Stoppers vision. If you have time to volunteer we would love to hear from you! Contact us at jwhannell@ci.kenai.ak.us
