12/27/2009 - Burglary

On 12/4/09, the Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of a burglary of the Duck Inn Bar.  Video surveillance of the business shows a suspect with a white cargo style minivan stealing items from the business.  Items taken were the cash register with money, a new in the box Vizio 50” plasma television, and bottles of alcohol.  See attached photo of suspect in the business.

 

Alaska State Troopers solved case by conducting traffic stop on suspect vehicle and obtaining confession from suspect and recovery of property from residence.

11/29/2009 - Theft
On 11/19/09 at 1145 hours, the Kenai Police Department arrested CHRISTOPHER ALLEN, age 20 of Kenai, for Vehicle Theft, Theft Second Degree and Felony Driving Under the Influence, Driving While License Revoked, and Habitual Minor Consuming.  Sometime between the theft of the vehicle earlier in the morning and his arrest, ALLEN disposed of a Lincoln Ranger welder from the rear of the truck.  The Kenai Police Department is seeking recovery of the welder.     RESOLVED --- RECOVERED BY OWNER.

11/22/2009 - Burglary
On 10/1/09 the Kenai Police Department responded to a residential burglary report on Grant Street.  Stolen from the residence were three firearms, one rifle and two handguns, along with a backpack containing binoculars, a GPS, and miscellaneous hunting gear.  Subsequent investigative leads and interviews have not resulted in the recovery of the stolen items.

10/26/2009 - Burglary

On 10/18/09 at 0630 hours, the Kenai Police Department responded to a burglary report at the .406 Sportsman’s Lodge.  A suspect broke into the front desk office of the business and removed a heavy roll safe which contained the receipts from the previous day’s business at the Lodge and .406 Cafe and Lounge.

9/20/2009 - Vandalism - Criminal Mischief
Due to ongoing reports of criminal mischief and vandalism in the Nikiski area, Central Peninsula Crime Stoppers is requesting information from the public as to responsible parties for damage to mailboxes, signs and roadways that has affected numerous victims

8/30/2009 - Burglary

On the morning of 8/28/09 the Soldotna Police Department responded to a burglary report of the H & R Block Business.  Sometime between 8/27/09 at 1900 hours and 8/28/09 at 0900 hours, suspects entered the business near Mile Post 93 of the Sterling Highway and removed multiple high capacity computer servers, guns, cash and a safe.  Stolen items were valued at $18,000.

8/24/2009 - Poaching/Animal Waste

Officers of the United States Fish and Wildlife Service are investigating the killing and waste of an adult cow moose on Tustumena Lake Road.  On August 15th, 2009, a suspect shot and killed a cow moose near the campground.  Fish and Wildlife Officers found the carcass 15 yards from the roadway.  Campers in the area reported hearing gun shots between midnight and 1 a.m.

8/17/2009 - Burglary

On August 12th 2009, the Soldotna Police responded to a burglary report at Jersey Sub’s on the Sterling Highway.  Investigation showed that unknown suspects had entered the business and removed the cash register and over $700 in money.  This was the third burglary report in two days involving the theft of cash, which was received by the Soldotna Police Department.

8/7/2009 - Theft of Electronics

On August 7th 2009, the Kenai High School hosted the Lathrop High School Football team.  During the second half of the football game, suspects entered the room where the Lathrop team member’s personal property was stored and removed numerous items.  Items stolen were a lap top computer, multiple Ipod and Itouch electronics, electronic game units and cash.  Value of the theft exceeded $4200.

6/29/2009 - Theft

During the month of June, the Soldotna Police Department has received multiple reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the City of Soldotna.  Suspects have been entering unsecured vehicles and removing items such as hand guns, Ipods, money and other items of value.  The total value of the thefts exceeds $4000.
